The sky finally darkened. Maehwa smiled, the thrill of burglary causing a chill in her body. She started to walk down the hill Hasden Park was located on, her dark green coat trailing behind her in the wind.
Maehwa looked down at the neighborhood again. The streets were empty. Maehwa didn’t find that surprising. Why would these rich kids go outside when they had 9000 square feet of luxury? Maehwa exited the trail leading up to park and walked towards a backroad. A few more minutes of walking, and she would be at the mansion.
She didn’t feel guilty for robbing Pierre Fischer’s mansion. He was the human manifestation of snobbiness and ignorance. The only smart deal that he ever made in life was being born into the Fischer family. Just a rich bastard.
“This should serve as a good wake-up call to him,” Maehwa said under her breath.
Sayuna Mansion came into view. Unlike the other mansions in the area, it was still a bit old-fashioned. It didn’t have the geometric look that was commonly seen. Sayuna was a classic Mediterranean mansion, with white exteriors and red terracotta roofs.
Maehwa made her way behind the mansion’s fences. She was glad that all the buildings in the neighborhood had lights installed that turn on automatically after dark. It made it easier for her to see everything. But unfortunately, she was going to have to cut the wires. She jumped over the white cement fence, ran to the power box. Maehwa put on her gloves, and got to work, making sure to check her back the entire time.
After finishing the job, Maehwa smiled, and started to walk from the yard to the pool area. Maehwa gazed upon the carefully preened garden. There were no birds singing at this hour, so she could only imagine the pitter-patter of bird feet against tree bark. A few feet up ahead was the patio and the pool. A trail of light-brown tiles led Maehwa to the pool area. One of the pools were glowing with teal. Maehwa found the glowing unnatural. She turned to her left, and gazed upon rows of plants in gold pots. She scoffed quietly before walking down the trail to the other side of the patio, where the other pool was located.
The other pool was. . . disappointing, to say the least. Maybe it was because of the smaller size. Maybe because of Mr. Fischer’s corpse floating in it.
