Brazil
The country known for football and that statue of Jesus. Brazil. I arrived in Rio de Janeiro a few days ago. The weather is pretty hot here. I wasn't really sure about coming here, because there are some issues in Brazil, such as police brutality, the favelas, and the poor water system. My 6th grade LA teacher Mr. Reid, told my class that even in the richer neighbourhoods, the water system was poor. But I had nothing else to do, so I came. I decided to eat at the airport instead of in the city.
At the restaurant, I enjoyed foods such as batatas portuguesas, and moqueca. Batatas portuguesas is fried garlic and potatoes, and moqueca is a Brazilian seafood stew. They tasted very similar to the foods in Argentina and Bolivia. Afterwards, I prepared to visit one of Rio's top destinations.
I took a taxi all the way to Parque Lage. I noticed that a lot of the parks that I had been to in different countries were either spelled "parque" or "parq". Parque Lage is situated near the mountains. It's foresty and green. The trees in Brazil looked and felt different. The trees skinny yet tall, and seemed to be covered in a little bit of water. Looking up was strange. The trees were so tall that they blocked off some of the sky. I'm not used to that, so it was weird.
While walking around the park, I could see some structures. There were some that looked like they belonged because of the appearance, but some felt out of place. I saw a giant office building in the park. I don't know what it was there for, but I didn't really care. After walking through the entire place, I was sweaty and tired. So I went back to my hotel.
Brazil has some genuinely fun places to visit, but there are also things about the country that I don't really like. I would visit the country again, but it wouldn't be my favorite.
